Mining and metal

It is not only distances that are great in northern Sweden. The structures and equipment installed at many sites is awe-inspiring. But structures that command respect also require careful risk analysis and condition monitoring.

This is where DEKRA can help. We inspect lifting equipment such as pit-head gear winches and cranes and pressure retaining devices such as air tanks and explosives containers. And we make status assessments of steel structures such as travelling crane beams, machinery, machine foundations and other mining equipment.

DEKRA also performs quality assurance for the purchase of traction units and ore trucks, both for use above ground and below. We also help with delivery assessment and annual inspection of items such as ladles for steel mills and smelters.

DEKRA assists with non-destructive testing NDT, for example the extending of crane runways, status assessments of boiler tubes, line testing for pit-head gear winches and more. The methods include X-ray testing, ultrasonic testing, magnetic powder testing, positive material identification PMI, for example, for welding of materials with unknown properties.

Over the years we have amassed a wealth of knowledge and experience. We communicate this through various programmes such as boiler operator training courses - boilers are of course our origin - and training in safe lifting.
