Inspection of Lifts, Doors and Escalators

DEKRA meets the requirements set by SWEDAC and the Swedish Board of Housing, Building and Planning (Boverket) for carrying out inspections of lifts, doors and escalators. We are accredited and a notified body (according to EU Commission Directive). With our 30 nationwide offices, we are always available to provide instant help for our customers.

We often carry out our initial inspection of the lift/escalator/door when it is installed, called installation inspection (initial inspection). We then carry out periodic inspection usually once a year. If significant changes are made to the lift/escalator/door we make a review inspection in accordance with Boverket's Statutes BFS 2011:12, (or currently applicable) Chapter 3. Significant changes to lifts may include changes to the maximum permissible load, lift cage weight, door locks, steering system, landing floor, machinery, number of lines or its dimensions.

Our inspectors perform their inspections in accordance with Boverket's Statutes and established check lists to ensure nothing is overlooked. When the inspection is completed, an inspection report is created and if the lift/escalator/door is approved, a sticker is applied indicating approval and the time the next inspection should be implemented. All equipment inspected by us is entered into a database, inspection-web, so that both we and the lift owner can see the status of the equipment at any time.

We also help manufacturers, installers and lift owners with investigations and advice regarding, for example, interpretation of regulations and standards, condition analysis, design control and quality assurance.
