Testing welders and solderers
DEKRA Industrial AB is an accredited certification body for certifying welders in compliance with standards EN 287, EN ISO 9606 and EN 1418 and for certifying solderers in compliance with the standard EN 13133.
Certification issued by an accredited certification body is widely accepted. Requirements specifying that welding work must be performed by qualified welders may be set by customers, standards or government agencies, such as Sweden’s National Board of Housing, Building and Planning, the Swedish Work Environment Authority, the Swedish Radiation Safety Authority and the Swedish Transport Administration.
Welders are tested under the supervision of a welding supervisor. Welders/solderers who are approved receive a personal certificate that can be used throughout Europe. The certificate is valid for two years (three years for solderers), provided that the holder maintains his/her professional competence by working within the area of operations for which the certification is valid. This is to be certified by the welder’s employer every six months.
Companies can use a web-based program, WeldEye® PQ, for certification management. DEKRA has approximately 40 welding supervisors at locations throughout Sweden.
Welding procedure qualification
DEKRA performs assessment and acceptance of welding and soldering procedures for welding/soldering of metallic materials, in accordance with the different parts of EN 288, EN ISO 15610, EN ISO 15611, EN ISO 15613 and EN ISO 15614, EN 13134 and in accordance with NORSOK and ASME.
Qualification of welding procedures is conducted as part of DEKRA activities as inspection body and notified body (PED).
