We work for high pressure

By making boilers and pressure vessels safer.

We have been working to improve the safety of boilers and other pressure vessels since the late 1800s. This experience, combined with modern inspection methods, allows us to remain a leader in the field of energy.

Energy

We have grouped all our expertise in thermal, hydro and wind power under this heading. Nuclear power, on the other hand, is such a major and special part of our business that we treat it as a separate industry.

DEKRA has a range of methods for assessing the status of the various types of energy equipment such as FST-GAGE® for rapid scanning of boiler tubes, Guided Waves for ultrasonic testing of long pipe sections, Lixi Profiles for on-line measurement of insulated pipes and replica testing for identifying surface cracks. When it comes to material technology, we have well equipped laboratories at several locations in Sweden and abroad. And with over 30 offices across the country, we are, for the most part, close to the equipment we need to inspect.

Services

Services include all phases of a life cycle of equipment and consist of: planning, design control, manufacturing inspection, installation inspection, periodic inspection, non-destructive testing NDT, materials analysis and risk analysis. This condition monitoring provides information about the status of the equipment and prevents unnecessary risks and downtime. Our electronic systems mean we can quickly supply documentation upon completion of inspections.

Extensive skills

Some of our inspection engineers have cutting edge expertise in areas such as materials technology, ATEX, welding technology or advanced testing. Others have extensive training with the ability to conduct a wide range of inspections during the same visit. This is an advantage when inspecting equipment that is located far away from urban areas. Regarding wind power, we have a number of inspection engineers who are specialised to conduct the required inspections.

An industry in transition

The proportion of nuclear power plants that use waste incineration is on the rise. This is still a relatively new technology for many plant owners, which means that there may be new wear phenomena. Therefore, we offer programmes for inspecting the status of equipment over time.

Gasification of biomass into vehicle fuel is a process that is likely to become more prevalent in the future. Our extensive experience of inspecting conventional gas equipment means that we have the skills and experience required to inspect modern gasification facilities.
